PIONEERING MASTERCLASS EDUCATION
Having started Mzed in 2009 with Ross Hockrow and Jeff Medford, Newstream has kept close ties to the company helping to produce over 10+ educational tours and masterclasses. The success of MZed gave way to early online education and masterclasses. You might consider them the early pioneers of photography and filmmaking education. Much of its success comes from its legacy of Monte Zucker, but the quality of educators and production value was a driving force in reaching the prosumer market in this ever changing industry. Below you will see several tours and and package design from the productions throughout the years. To date from the inception of MZed, Newstream has helped the company gross over 8.4 million dollars before eventually selling the company to Australian based manufacturer Rode.

When working with fellow creatives of such high status, ut presents many benefits, but also as many challenges. On one hand you have the most beautiful footage and photography to work with when creating all the items necessary in marketing and producing International Tours and Masterclasses.
But on the other, you have to bring your A game every day when trying to please Emmy Award Winning Directors? The privilege of working with such creatives will always be one of the highlights of my early career. Having witnessed such greatness at an early age, the standard that has been set before me will always be a guiding light.

ALEX BUONO
Alex Buono, DP of the SNL Film Unit & Co-Director/DP of the new IFC comedy series Documentary Now went on a 33 city international tour called Visual Storytelling 2. Newstream has had a long outstanding relationship with MZed, and was excited to help produce another award winning tour. When creating a website we always say that content is key, and next to content it’s art direction. Having access to Alex’s work work from Saturday Night Live, and Documentary Now made the art direction a blast.
The only request we had from Alex and the team was come up with a 70’s geographic modern brand that reminds you a bit of a Wes Anderson title. Whewwwww… that’s a mouthful. To pull this off we worked with the awarded illustrator CubenX to come up with the patterns for us to incorporate into the design.

VINCENT LAFORET
Award winning director Vincent Laforet toured North America in 2014 to teach the art of adding camera movement to your films. To day it remains MZEDs highest grossing tour bringing in over 1.2 million dollars in ticket sales. The attention to detail Vincent has for his work demanded a creative team that took an equal amount of pride in it’s branding.
Having worked in cinema and as a commercial director with some of the biggest names, Vincent knows how to move people with his imagery. Whether you are tracking actors in a new Nike Commercial or planning your next dolly shot for a feature film, knowing when and how to add movement to your films is critical to holding the viewers attention.

JERRY GHIONIS
Jerry Ghioinis, one of the worlds leading fashion and wedding photographers put on a 33 city tour teaching photography techniques to ‘WOW’ your clients. And if a picture is worth a thousand words, then you’re going to need a bigger vocabulary to describe Jerry’s work.
Marketing for an event like this is really easy. One of the many benefits we’ve had marketing and branding all of MZed’s Tours for a while is the talent that you get to work with. People pay hundreds of dollars to listen to these guys for a few hours, and you truly get spoiled with the footage you have to work with.

JOEL GRIMES
Joel Grimes has been one of the leading portrait photographers in the industry for the past 2 decades. Making a name for himself with on-location portraiture, celebrity endorsements, and post production editing presets and brushes, Joel has fostered a following of inspiring photographers.
The series Portrait Photography On Location featured over 7 hours of education in a 7 series course, teaching you everything Joes signature lighting and camera techniques.

PIONEERING MASTERCLASS EDUCATION
When MZed decided to host its first Masterclass in 2010, the name ‘Masterclass’ was hardly a house hold name. In addition to their business model of generating new Multi-City and International Tours, MZed pioneered early masterclass education.
Already having a built in audience from the presenters tours, the past attendees had first privilege to join their educators in immersive multi classes. This personal connection and rave reviews from tours and masterclasses led MZed to a successful sale in 2017.
